James Burchenal

Wealth Manager for UBS

James Burchenal has developed his career through work that combines business service, client support, and practical leadership. Based in Cincinnati, he has held roles in finance, sales, education, real estate, and construction. These experiences have helped him build a broad professional background while continuing to focus on communication, responsibility, and results.

Building the Foundation: Academic and Early Experiences

James graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. His studies included intermediate macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, which helped him understand markets, financial systems, and decision-making. This education later supported his work in finance, sales, real estate, and business ownership.

While attending Hampden-Sydney College, James also participated in varsity lacrosse and Sigma Chi. These experiences helped him work within teams, manage commitments, and develop discipline. They also gave him early exposure to structured teamwork and shared responsibility.

James gained early finance experience through an investment internship at UBS Financial Services. He worked with a top institutional consulting team and helped review client accounts ranging from $1 million to over $25 million. His work included reviewing accounts and making recommendations.

This internship introduced him to portfolio strategy, risk assessment, and financial decision-making. It also helped him understand the importance of detail, careful review, and sound judgment when handling client matters.

From Sales Floors to Global Classrooms

James later worked at Cincinnati Bell as an Outside Sales Manager. In this position, he focused on new business development, untapped markets, and client relationships. His work helped him secure approximately 50 new clients each month.

This role gave James useful experience in sales outreach, customer communication, and follow-through. It also helped him understand how to build trust with clients and identify business opportunities.

James then moved into education while living in Prague, Czech Republic. He taught English to more than 500 students weekly across multiple schools. His responsibilities included preparing customized lesson plans, working with other educators, and communicating with parents.

This teaching role required patience, organization, and flexibility. It also helped James learn to communicate with people from different backgrounds and to adjust his approach to individual needs.

After returning to the United States, James joined Kreller Group as a professional sales representative and account manager. His duties included customer acquisition, territory growth, and advising companies on credit and risk management practices. He also worked with commercial credit reports and investigations.

In this role, James exceeded sales quotas while handling detailed client needs. The position allowed him to use both sales skills and financial analysis in a client-facing setting.

Real Estate and Client-Focused Strategy

In 2015, James Burchenal became a licensed realtor with Comey and Shepherd. He worked with buyers and sellers, reviewed properties, coordinated showings, and negotiated contracts. His real estate portfolio included properties ranging from $50,000 to $1.2 million.

Real estate allowed James to support clients through important financial and personal decisions. He helped clients evaluate properties, understand market options, and move through the buying or selling process.

He also created targeted marketing materials and used newsletters and direct outreach to stay connected with clients and prospects. These efforts helped support ongoing communication and long-term business relationships.

As a licensed realtor, James focused on clear guidance, trust, and practical service. His work required attention to detail, negotiation, and the ability to respond to changing market conditions.

Entrepreneurship and Construction Leadership

In 2022, James became co-owner of Monture Construction LLC in Mariemont, Ohio. This position allowed him to apply his experience in sales, negotiation, real estate, and operations to leadership in construction. His responsibilities include overseeing projects, managing client relationships, and helping guide the company’s direction.

At Monture Construction LLC, James works with projects that require planning, coordination, and clear communication. His background in real estate helps him understand property value and client expectations, while his sales experience supports his ability to manage relationships and service needs.

Community Engagement and Personal Interests

James has also been involved in community service. He served as a counselor with United Way’s Stepping Stones program, supporting students with disabilities through camp activities and daily engagement. This work required care, patience, and responsibility.

Earlier in life, James worked as a ranch hand at Two Creek Ranch in Montana. His work included managing livestock and land across a large-scale operation. This experience helped him build a practical work ethic.

Outside of work, Burchenal enjoys hockey, rock climbing, camping, fly fishing, bird hunting, traveling, and weight training. These activities help him stay active and connected to outdoor and physical challenges.
